WHAT IS THEIR PHILOSOPHY OF LIfE

"DON'T TRUST AN EASY GAIN."

Dumanigu believe in the existence of spirits who can change their shape in the physical world with easy. They are called botol meri and appear as a beautiful woman.

The spirit usually attacks an unsuspecting male by seducing him, engaging in sex and then killing him while still having intercourse. According to this legend, the vagina of the botol meri is said to enclose a sharp toothed implement similar to jagged glass from a broken bottle that will sever the penis causing heavy bleeding and eventually death for the victim, if help is not sought quickly. Typically, she lures and attacks her victims at a secluded location in the jungle. Her victims are always lone unsuspecting male travelers. The legend warns Dumanigu men not be tricked when they come across a woman, who flirts with them and asks for sex.

Perhaps this is the way how elders try to encourage young boys to get married and stay away from other women.
